DON'T Buy LSA! - Store Bought LSA is Bad For You.

What is LSA? LSA is a ground combination of three great whole foods - Linseeds (aka Flaxseed), Sunflower seeds & Almonds.

Every one you talk to, all over the internet, health advisors and nutritionists all agree that organic LSA is great for you!

This mix is an amazing source of dietary fiber, protein, omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, selenium, copper and zinc, and vitamins A, B, D and E.

But when you buy pre ground, packaged LSA sitting on a shelf in a shop. It's actually the opposite of good for you. All three of the ingredients, but particularly the Linseeds, oxidise when they are ground up. When the wholefoods are in the natural form, they are great, and have a long shelf life. But as soon as the three are ground/blended, the natural oils release. It's the oils which oxidise.

Think of it like an apple can stay on the shelf for a long time and it's fine. But as soon as you bite open the apple. The inside will turn brown quite quickly. It's a different process, but same principal. And tomorrow when that apple is completely dark brown, you wouldn't eat it.
Once the Linseed is cracked open, it's going bad, and the rancid oil is actually not healthy to consume.

But never fear. LSA is super easy to make at home. It works out far cheaper and you can store it longer. Buy the three ingredients Linseeds, Sunflower Seeds and Almonds. Grind them at home, place them into a sealed container, and store in the fridge.
This will give you the best shelf life possible, keeping in the fridge will slow down the process. Also when you buy from an online bulkfood store, you won't get any plastic packaging. So it's actually a waste-free way to get the actual benefits from LSA.

Organic LSA - Linseed Sunflower Seeds Almonds

Here's an easy LSA recipe for you to make yourself -

LSA Ingredients:

Generally use brown linseeds. But it's up to you if you prefer to use golden linseed. Also organic sunflower seeds and organic almonds is always recommended. So when you buy organic wholefoods online, browse for your favourite type. But whatever suits your budget and lifestyle. Either way the mix is going to taste great and give you the benefits.

Keep in mind that you can make a batch of LSA as small or as large are you want. Just always keep the ratio 3:2:1. Preferably make smaller batches more regularly as you can consume it faster and it's actually easier to blend when it's a small amount.

Instructions
1. Place all 3 ingredients into your blender
2. Blend on high for 10-30 seconds (depends on blender)
- A nutri-bullet style is best. Any blender will work. Try stopping the blend and shaking in between to get a better consistency.
- You may use a coffee grinder too. But blend the ingredients separately and in smaller batches. Combine and stir after

3. That's it! Enjoy.

4. Store in an air-tight container and in the fridge. Use a dark container if you have one to prevent direct sunlight entering.

Organic LSA in blender - Linseed Sunflower Seeds Almonds

Use your organic LSA mix where ever you can. Add it to smoothies; sprinkle it on oatmeal and other cereals; stir it through yogurt, chia pudding, and fruit salad; fortify baked goods; or use it to bind veggie burgers, fruit rolls, and power bars. Lightly across salads or even a light garnish to complete a hearty warm meal at dinner.

Tip - You can definitely change the 3:2:1 ratio slightly. Maybe you prefer the nutty flavour, so next time add a slight bit more almond. Play around with it and make it your own (:
